Children may start pre-school the day after their third birthday. However, please note that you will not receive nursery education funding until the term after your child’s third birthday.

Funding information
All 3 and 4-year-old children are eligible for free early education funding. This is often taken as 15 hours each week for 38 weeks of the year, beginning the term after the child turns 3 years old.
Children of working parents/carers may be entitled to an additional 15 hours of free early education per week.

Funded sessions
Funded hours are 8.30am to 3.00pm. Your early education and childcare funding (15 hours or 30 hours) can only be used for these hours.
You can if you wish use childcare vouchers or the government’s Childcare Choices scheme to pay for wrap-around care sessions.
Unfunded sessions
Unfunded sessions are charged at £6.00 per hour. Hot lunches are £2.60 each.
