Welcome to Preschool
Choosing childcare is a big decision! We provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment where children aged 3–4 can grow in confidence and develop at their own pace.
Our preschool day follows the main school opening hours, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, with wraparound care available before school from 7.30 am and after school until 6:00 pm.
NWPA Preschool is open year-round, closing only for two weeks at Christmas.
A caring and supportive environment
Our team is made up of kind, committed and well‑trained staff who get to know each child as an individual. Children feel secure because they are surrounded by adults who listen to them, understand them and want the very best for them.
Children learn through play
We use a structured approach to learning, but it is always delivered in a fun, playful and relaxed way. This helps children enjoy their day while building important early skills. Parents tell us they love how we balance planned activities with plenty of time to explore and be curious.
Children benefit from our modern facilities and large indoor and outdoor learning spaces. They also get to enjoy the main school areas such as the immersive room and large hall. This gives them lots of variety and room to learn through play.
Helping every child grow and develop
Children do extremely well with us. They:

Visitors often comment on how kind, well‑behaved and confident our children are. We use our school’s STARS values in preschool too, helping children learn about respect, kindness and trying their best.
By the time they leave for school, they are well-prepared and ready for the next step in their education.
Strong communication with families
We keep parents closely involved. You’ll receive regular updates through an app, showing you what your child has been learning and enjoying each day. Our staff also build positive, open relationships with families, so you always feel informed and reassured.
Session Times
Children can attend full‑time or on a flexible part‑time basis.
- Morning session: 8:30 am–11:30 am
- Extended morning session: 8:30 am–12:00 pm
- Afternoon session: 12:00 pm–3:00 pm
- Full day session: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Depending on your funding, we offer attendance for:
- 38 weeks per year (term-time only)
- 48.2 weeks per year (closed for two weeks at Christmas, TED days and Bank Holidays)
Fees & Funding
Funding Information
All 3 and 4-year-old children are eligible for free early education funding.
This is often taken as 15 hours each week for 38 weeks of the year, beginning the term after the child turns 3 years old.
Children of working parents/carers may be entitled to an additional 15 hours of free early education per week.

You can use childcare vouchers or the government’s Childcare Choices scheme to pay for wraparound care sessions.
Funded sessions
Your 15 or 30 hours of early education funding can be used during the school day (8:30 am–3:00 pm) and covers the £5.50 hourly fee.
Unfunded sessions
Unfunded hours (before school from 7:30 am and after school until 6:00 pm) are charged at £6.90 per hour.

Hot lunch
You have the option to order a hot meal or a packed lunch. Meal fees and options are available on our School Meals page.

Admissions
Children may start preschool the day after their third birthday. However, please note that you will not receive nursery education funding until the term after your child’s third birthday.
We offer half-termly admissions dates for children to start.

You can download the application form below or collect one from the school office. After registering, your child will be invited to two free induction sessions.
